Landstar allows my thirteen year old son to ride with me for two weeks. I can pick him up in Cali and take the long road home to Texas drop him off and run some more and then pick him up and run back to Cali after spending more time with him in texas.
You have to ask and they will send you the form for authorization.

I was told 11 is too young. My daughter couldn't go with me. Also I forgot to mention you have to have the insurance for it.

I was forced to come off the road because of the whole swift school being shut down. My CDL got pulled and I am retesting for it this saturday. I got a speeding ticket 3/2009 for 82/40 in my car if that makes a difference. Will Landstar still look at me for hire. I know some companies such as Quality Carriers only require it to be 1 year old but I wasn't sure for Landstar as it's not listed on their website.

Landstar is owner op only. Doubt anyon is going to hire you with that ticket. Need to find a way to eradicate it. I do know Western Express hired a guy out of my school with a 30 over the limit.

Most tickets even DUI's can be removed given enough time. The ticket was written in March of this year? Try in 5 years or so. With that ticket being that far over the speed limit your chances of driving a truck are nil. IMO

That is pretty much wreckless driving. Maybe a small local company? Or someplace that really has a hard time finding drivers.

Werner turned me down because they thought I had an unpaid ticket for 17 over. My conviction was for 14 over. Court forgot to remove the ticket.

Talking to a lawyer is free. You didn't have a CDL at the time.

You messed up and now you have to pay the "stupid tax."

Post your situation in the legal section on this site see what the "experts" come up with.

Ya they do usually give out reckless driving but that is a separate ticket from speeding. I guess I didn't get reckless b/c I was taking daughter to ER. I pulled up my MVR a few weeks ago and all it shows is a speeding no reckless or careless. I would think if it was reckless or careless it would state that on my MVR please correct me if I am wrong. Although I prob will not get hired seeing as I'm right at the min qualifications of a year experience. Oh and I am talking to a local company that said the ticket isn't a problem given the circumstances I was taking my daughter to the ER. Its a smaller outfit called Royal Trucking in West Point, MS. Some of you in MS might want to check them out they are a awesome company from everything I've heard while living in West Point.

LandStar sucks, they hired my wife and I at the peak of their down season and never let us know a thing. Their loads were none existing during that period if you were new. You had to know the best agents to call and they had to know you. We did not last a month. All their yards are crappy and they take their profits right of the top. I understand if you be with them long enough you will start to get known and can then make some money but at the time I had a truck payment to make.

At Landstar your success is left up to you.

They don't hold your hand like most other companies do.
This is one area where they are very different.

That sucks you had all the turmoil of changing around but thats their business model.
