@The Boss Lady It takes quite a while to do the whole process with LS. Take the HAZMAT test and then stay in touch with your processor. It's been over 5 weeks since I filled out the app and just got cleared for orientation. Hopefully it will be worth it. I've got a couple of buddies over there, 1 running a van and the other a step deck, and both of them are quite happy. Like Nike used to say, "Just Do It"!
Either you or Landstar can terminate the lease at any time for any reason. So you would just call them and tell them you want to terminate. They would deduct anything you still owed for plates/permits from any settlement you had coming and you would return the plates/permits to them and be on your merry way.
Once you return everything, and square everything up,they will sell your plates to someone else, and return what balance you overpaid on the plates. In other words,if you have paid your plates off,and there's still half a year left on your plates, you'll get half the plate money back. Or you can run your own tags if you want.
Something close to that.I've been retired from them for a few years, not exactly sure what it is anymore.I was in heavy haul with Inway, heavy haul license tags are a couple hundred more for extra weight increase fees for heavy permit freight.
