I'm going back to running my own plate and IFTA at the end of the month. A BCO friend just went back to a FL plate using his actual miles. His 14 month max weight plate was less than LS 80k.

80,000 lbs registered weight. If you were going to pull trailer with extra axles you can register for more weight.

Now, please don't take this the wrong way, but...the fact that you asked that question tells me you're not ready for leasing on yet, if that's what you were planning on. There is a lot that you should know about all this and I would hate to see you destroy your credit and financial well being by jumping into this before you have a firm grasp on all that you need to know. There are many of us here that can help if you're willing to slow down and hear it.

I will second this. Show down and buy that truck once you have learned enough to have a legitimate chance. Buying too soon can set you back so far the opportunity may never come again.

As long or as short as I want. I usually only work about 15-18 days a month. One month I really went overboard and worked 25 days. Usually out for a week ot ten days and then home for almost as long.

It takes discipline. It's easy to sit around home and let three days become a week. You have to know when to get moving again and you have to be willing to follow the money, no matter where it is.

The guys who do well don't have a long list of things they won't haul or places they won't go. Ever talk to a guy who didn't make it and it's likely he got in his own way of making money.

If you're the type of guy who needs to be told what to do or can't make a command decision you will fail at LS. You need to be able to make decisions and do it with some authority and do it quickly.

You understand there are no dispatchers right? If you want to work, you find a load and haul it. If you don't want to work, then don't. There is nobody that will tell you when, how often or how long you have to work. If you want to be a part timer, I'd suggest you buy a truck with cash.
