Your screwed no matter which way you go. You won't get much on a trade, but you can get something. On top of that, you might be able to transfer the negative equity into the new truck if you get a good enough deal on the new truck. The only other non-appealing options are buying a used engine and have it installed ( maybe it'll be good, maybe it won't) or buy rebuilt from Cummins and have it installed. Either option is more than the truck is worth with a running engine unless she gets a heck of a deal on the used one. She hasn't done any repairs to the DPF, so what happens when they pop that open and find out the $5k filter has cracks? Terrible situation really.

Yes, other than the engine, the truck is in good condition. My fear is that I would run out and purchase another used truck and end up with a bad deal. I did all the right things with my Pete before I bought it (oil sample, Dyno, etc) but things happen. In the meantime, I'm going to look for a temporary driving position until I figure out what needs to be done.

I spoke to a Landstar recruiter and she sent a list of fleet owners that I could drive for until I my truck fixed or get another truck. I think I would rather do that instead of running for a mega as a company driver or get caught up in a "fleece purchase".

@fortycalglock Yeah, this sux all the way around. One of my friends suggested that talk to Peterbilt about possibly trading it. I think I'll check with them to see what I can come up with.

I spoke to one of the salesmen at Tom Nehl in Jacksonville the other day. He suggested that I sell it to the salvage yard or just let the finance company repo the truck because I owe so much on it. What a nightmare. SMH.
