I just come home for the weekend and found a nice little log letter in my mail from Landstar!!!! It seems now every o/o pulling a company van is having there logs checked against there satellite system on there trailers. A very upset call to Landstar log dept. informed me from now on our trailers will be pinged daily though out the day and night and must match our logs or points will be added up after this week and with enough points acquired we will loose our lease. I drop and hook daily and agents connect me to trailers in the system that I haven't even picked up yet and it had me violations in places that I wasn't even at!!! This will not effect anyone pulling there own trailers or Landstar equipment that doesn't have the satellite systems installed.
When does the BS stop with this company!!!??? They have no clue what they are going to do to there customers, drivers, and even there own pockets with this crap!!!! I am so frustrated that after all the mess we have struggled through to make it through this depression and now Landstar serves us up a nice pot of eat #### soup. Please someone tell me why I became a o/o??? I don't do this to have a big brother watching my every move!!!! I just want to give up!!!![]()

U Midas well get used to it ...
It's the new way for a company and in some cases the driver to CYOA with the DOT -
There'll be no choice but to do it legal. That's the reality. Driver wages will never reflect what's goin' on either.
gearjammer-2000 Thanks this. -
I like running legal ... So many say that they can't make it running legal . But I can and continue to make a good living running
110% legalGears, mgt1085, Beechvtail and 6 others Thank this. -
Guess it's CYA time there wreckless. Got that cell with the camera? Activate the date stamp and take a picture when you hook and when you drop and when you hook and so on so forth and when you get stupid mail email safety the pictures or actually email them to safety AND dispatch when taken! Get everyone at Landstar to do this and that will mean they'll either have to hire someone to note this into the logs department or forget the BS!
Get every driver to tell BFI which they just became that it's THEIR responsibly to document the time that YOU call in or send in information on your drops and hooks seeing how they are trying the lazy way to track your logs and noy by using something like QC or people net! If they want the lazy way then put the burden of proof on them!
Again some college educated moron trying to put into effect something that looks good on paper but sucks in real life!
OR, the only other options you can do is every one of you park the trucks for at least one day! BFI might figure out what needs to be done!
OR buy your own trailer and forget the BS with their crapola!
To bad that oh so great locator program doesn't have a power on power off report line in the programing which should show when you hooked the pig tail in and disconnected it which will backup the logbook! Bring that up to them! It might cost them extra for that so they have it shut off in the program! Just another way to shave a penny!chickinqueen and rocknroll nik Thank this. -

Another reason they are instituting this program could be that drivers are grabbing landstar trailers and using them for runs without paying a fee to Landstar. A good friend of mine who was leased with them a few years back used to do this when he needed a dry van for a run.

Even though you own your own truck, you are still tugging their equipment. They are making sure their stuff is legal.
You should get used to it.
My advice to you, and you should already know this: BUY YOUR OWN TRAILER. I know its easier said than done and that is probably your goal anyway, but as long as your gonna tug company trailers, you are gonna have "big brother" watch your move.
ITS 2010. -
And a good many of us run completely legal...
Now mister Knowitall, If you read and comprehend the post without letting your preconcieved notions interfere with the words on the screen, Perhaps you would have noticed the part where he explained in perfectly clear english that they were dinging him for log violations on trailers that he hadn't picked up yet and was not even near!
But you're so busy tryin' to impress us with your vast knowledge of all things that you just chime in with an opinion that is rarely backed up with any insight!
You've been given advice numerous times and still you think you know better than people that have been doing this for many years!Paddletrucker, Ruthless, creekrd and 22 others Thank this.
