This is an HP DeskJet 3050 Kinda reg size printer, but i keep on a shelf up top, so it doesn't matter size. It Copies, Prints, and Scans, But does not fax and it was $69 at walmart and Best Buy. and $79 at Office Depot. I keep the printer and a ream of paper so i can print out my freight bill emails to keep a hard copy.

You can scan and email or eFax your trip cons back.

We have one of the hp scanner/printers in the truck. I believe it is essential! The wife had this one before I joined her at LS. The only thing I do not like is the flatbed scanner. The next one will be a sheet fed scanner, just because I am lazy! We use faxzero for things that need faxing. One drawback is they put advertisement on the coversheet, but who cares! It is still free.

If you want to be able to send or receive faxes in your truck you will need to subscribe to one of the electronic fax services. The two that I am most familiar are Myfax and eFax. They run about $10/month. These work through email but you can send or receive from any fax anywhere in the world.

Seems easier to take a picture with my phone and email it. -
I also have on of the TripPac Scanners that was 99 bucks online 129 at truckstop. It is a paperfeed and can be used with the direct scan. I will have to look into the faxing, i just been putting it off as i dont have to fax often.

Truck stops used to fax for $0.25-0.50/page. They now charge from $1-3/page. That can get very expensive, especially if you run your own authority. Contracts can run over 30 pages. Even at $1/page it would only take 2 or 3 times to pay for an all in one printer. It is also convenient being able to fax from the truck without having to look for a truck stop. I have a couple of companies that I do business where I can upload my bills into their computer and have my money in a couple of days.

For those of you already with Landstar, what machine would you recommend? An all in one with FAX, or just a printer scanner copier?
At first I was thinking a FAX will be a must for permits and such, but really everything gets emailed these days, so now I'm thinking that as long as I can print, email and scan......I should be OK? If I'm going to have to FAX though, I'd rather know it now before I purchase the wrong machine. Faxing my app to landstar a couple weeks back cost me $26 for 13 pages! -
A lot of states fax permits. It only costs about $10/month to subscribe to one of the internet fax services. You can cancel at any time. There are more people who send paperwork through email, but many still use faxes. I would go with an all in one printer. I always kept copies of my paperwork. Scanning can give you a cleaner copy than faxing.
