OMFG...who thought this pile of crap is a good idea?! Does anyone know how to disable the speakers so that when I turn on the truck, go through construction, go around a curve or drive on pavement with any kind of line on it they don't blast that noise and wake my wife up?
Lane Alert....for real?!

Is this "lane alert" coming from your GPS (which model), your radio/stereo (which model)? I guess the sound is playing through your truck stereo, but what device is receiving these lane alerts?
My Volvo truck stereo has a "Traffic" feature, but I've never heard it make a peep. But if that's what causing the alert you can turn it off by going into Menu, Advanced, scroll to Traffic, press the Right button and it can be turned on/off.
That's the best I can do without knowing more. -
My Cascadia has a temporary override switch. It's becoming habit to hit it as soon as I enter a construction zone.

It's a Cascadia... I just enjoy the fact they find it safer to wake up the cod river everytime you turn on the truck and they make it necessary that whenever you are getting into construction, instead of focusing on driving, you gotta dick with this piece of ####...

If it's a fleet truck, unfortunately there may not be an "off" setting; it may have been disabled per your company's policy. My last company has implemented this (it's either Vorad or Meritor, I can't remember), my friends that still work there have told me they feel it could be hazardous to their hearing, it's that loud.

Disabling a safety device is an immediate dismissal at my company and may be an immediate guilty verdict by your insurance company if you were to be in an accident.
But I agree. The cod river would get no sleep in these new trucks even with decent ear plugs.

The Volvo system in my truck will flash the alert on the driver information display and will silence the radio but ever since my truck had the front dash electronics go out at the beginning of last year, the audio rumble strip sound doesn't work. Not that I miss it all that much.
peterbilt_2005 Thanks this. -
I put a piece of paper over mine, it works for the most part but it still goes off every once in a while.
RustyChops41 Thanks this. -
Honestly I don't mind the functionality...it's just the test sound when you start the truck. With as Strict as Schneider is about idling, we either take it in the ### on our bonus and idle all the time, or I harass my wife while she is sleeping...honestly I will sacrifice the bonus for a well rested (and happy) wife lol

I'm in a 17' cascadia as a team with wife who is a light sleeper, we found that the sound was entirely unacceptable when starting truck coming off break or fueling. I pulled speaker grill off ( it literally just pops on and off without tools), and disconnected speakers. You will need t20 (torx head driver) about 5$ at auto parts store to pull out speaker. No problem putting back if necessary. FYI, a t20 driver is what fits all screws in cascadia interior.
Dave_in_AZ and scottied67 Thank this.
