best bet is NOT get a mifi or ANY air card for that matter. they cost more. and that's justy money your throwing away to the carrier every mponth.

any internet phone can be adjusted for wifi tether. they already include internet in your phone plan. why waste mone for a seperate air card. specially since the monthly fee is twice what the phone already comes with. and the phone does SO MUCH MORE then just act as a wifi hotspot.

and i HAVEN'T been impresed with verizon service. the only difference between sprint and verizon is one covers a vcertain area while the other don't.

verizon having the greatest coverage area. if you truly drive 48 states. you will find that's just a ROOST

Experience has taught me that it's rather difficult to use the same device for two different functions when you need them both at the same time.

I use my IPhone more than my laptop now for surfing but I still carry a phone set up as a tethered modem. The issue is that you need to be in an area that has data reception.

You might also search Wilson Electronics and get a cellular signal booster perhaps through Amazon especially if you will spend a lot of time in the brush and on the pig trails. They help data and phone service considerably in remote and fringe areas. Regarding the original point, a lot has to do how much internet data you might expect to typically consume in a month as to how to best work a data solution to feed whatever device you decide to carry. If it's pc vs mac (laptop), you'll find the mac's MUCH faster to get you up and connected from sleep than any PC. At home and for serious computing I prefer PC but for mobile use, the macbook is hard to beat for several key reasons. Yes, they are more costly, though but the time saved waiting on PC's to get up and running is worth the cost to me.
