News said this morning he had 42 guns between the hotel and his home.I wonder why so many and when did he start planning this.A gun store owner said he bought a rifle last February and came in the store 3 times before he decided to buy a gun.

Criminals don't obey the laws we already have. What makes you (or anybody else) think they'll abide by any NEW laws you might dream up? Definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome. Disarming the law-abiding has NEVER decreased crime or violence.

I'll tell you what, though, when you agree to pay the government for a required "yearly license" (in essense seeking government's permission) to exercise your 1st amendment right to free speech, then we can open up a dialog as to whether a permit ought to be required to exercise your rights under the 2nd amendment. Those rights weren't granted by the government, but rather by the Creator...unalienable, in that they are not to be taken away. The Constitution does not "give" us those rights, but rather protects those rights from a government inclined to strip them away. The Constitution, when it says "Congress shall make NO law..." and "shall NOT be infringed" means just that.

 

No, that isn't what the 2nd Amendment says. Go back and read it again, paying attention to punctation and the meanings the words that were used had back when they were written.

But to humor you by pretending that your "militia" theory is correct, you'd have to look at just who each state defines as their "militia". Here in Illinois, our state constitution defines the militia as "all able bodied persons residing in the state". In other words, I'm a member of the state militia, as defined in the state constitution. Most states use similar language, meaning that under your interpretation, only the disabled would be disarmed...and that'll lead to discrimination lawsuits under the ADA.

 

You realize that a package the size of a good size back pack , with supplies from your local farm supply store could have done FAR more evil . No back ground checks. Funny how the left commits acts of violence, then attempts to use those acts of violence to justify further restrictions upon the law abiding. Here's a thought: Why not simply include a question such as "Have you ever supported a Democrat for federal office?" on form 4473. Since Democrats want to place restrictions on who can own what, it'd be awful hypocritical of them to object to such a question as a disqualifying measure on the form...and since they are the ones who keep playing shoot-em-up against the disarmed masses, it'd make it a little tougher for them to acquire what they need. That's the excuse the Democrats use to restrict the law-abiding, so it should be good enough to place restrictions upon the Democrats.

Ps you speak off your right to own guns but what about those 59 dead and 500+ injured.......where are their rights?

 

What is your solution to stop people from using cars and trucks to mow down crowds of innocent people?

What is your solution to stop muslim extremists from using airplanes to crash into buildings and kill thousands of people?

What is your solution to stop people from strapping bombs to themselves and blowing up innocent people in a market?

The second amendment is in place so that Americans can protect themselves in the event a rogue government comes to power. It is not about hunting. It is not about carrying a pistol to defend ourselves from thugs.

Personally, if that were to happen, I want the same guns that our miltary has access to and plenty of ammo. I certainly ain't riding a train to Auschwitz.
