I think I have most of the first page on the Maverick forum. Still excited if you cant tell, and trying to learn as much as I can before I ship out to Little Rock.

The trucks have APUs with 12vDC and AC outlets. Anyone know how many watts you can use? Its a few months off but I am considering getting like the smallest microwave possible if it could handle it. Just to save some money out on the road (chef boyardee). I looked at walmart and the smallest they had there was 700 watt.

If its not possible, thats ok. Just trying to get a game plan together over the next couple months since its going to be a big change for me. Also thought about a 12v DC cooler but Id rather have the microwave over the cooler I think.

I would wait until I had the keys in my hand before buying that stuff. Just because you go to an orientation does not mean you have a job.

I know. Im not buying it now. Cant take it to training or with me unless I want to sleep on top of it. If I dont get on with Maverick, I already have several other offers. Blowing up my phone actually calling me at least once per day.

A cooler would be a better choice in my opinion. Most truck stops have a microwave you can use.

    X2 - Good advice

Put the money aside into a truck account if it's really driving you nuts and when you test out and actually get a truck assignment you can celebrate at Wally World. (Note there is no place to store stuff while you're out training and generally prices are falling on anything that runs on electricity, so putting purchases off as long as you can is generally a good thing.)

    Good luck.

didn't think about their being a microwave at the truck stops. Thats true! A cooler may be a better investment over a microwave once I get rolling

Coastie took the exact words out of my mouth. :)

I had a 700 watt microwave in my truck but about half the time it kept tripping the breaker on the inverter. But I know several guys that have them and have no issues.

Myself, I splurged and bought this compact model from the company store in NLR. It's just big enough to fit a dinner plate and fits right in the cubby where the TV would normally go. It was expensive at $185, but it's 600 watts and heats things up quite nicely.

The real stupid question is "how did i end up here" if you don't ask you won't have a clue and then bad things happen and you're bloomers are all bunch up preventing you from making reasonable decisions and then you post on here about how those scoundrels at (name) trucking lied to you and rip people off...
yup thats how it happens :biggrin_2551:
