We are going to the port of Galveston this afternoon to do this for the first time. Our company gave us no training whatsoever on how to latch a container onto the flatbed trailer. Our trailer is equipped with a number of fasteners that you push up through the bed and latch onto the container and hold it on the trailer . My question is do I need a special tool or a crowbar to push those up and latch them. It appears as though I could do it by hand but I'm hoping someone who's done this before can let me know if I need to stop off and buy something before I get there.

Here's a crazy idea. Ask your company how it works...

I already did and the dispatcher said I didn't need any special tools. Would you ever believe a dispatcher?

I read the entire thread but they barely mentioned container locks. I guess that's what they're called. I have them installed on my flatbed and was just wondering if I need a special tool to use them

No you don't need a special tool. Matter of fact Im assuming your talking about container locks. You can go practice it right now....just push them up and turn then. Assuming a crane is gonna load your container onto your trailer...you should have them pushed up and ready to go when your getting ready to get loaded. The crane will set the container on your locks...you just twist them in place afterwards.
