Where was the OP's company in all this? Some of you guy's solutions were funny, some were downright horrible, but they all had nothing to do with putting the solution to the problem where it should rightly be...the office.
If one of our guys called in and said he couldn't get unloaded for five days the problem would have been solved, one way or the other, by the end of that business day and the truck would be empty and headed someplace else.
I'd also think hard about hauling for that customer or that broker and probably take them off the list. One hour late and the guy gets a five day reschedule? That won't work. That won't work at all.
Late for delivery 1 hour, have to wait 5 days

He says he contacted the Broker, which would have been the obvious choice. Even offered to take the receiver to lunch if I'm reading his post correctly.
And as I'm sure he's more then pondered the idea of never contacting this Broker or receiver in the near future.Oxbow Thanks this. -
PFG. there's gonna be a nice late fee attached to this too i'm sure.

Anyone yelling will be futile.
I don't sit a load 5 days due to being late 10 minutes. It's coming off that trailer or that trailer is dropped on their property or stuck somewhere. The company will make the necessary situation happen.
That is one reason I got out of food. The increasingly BS sit there is out of hand.
There is a safeway in NW Atlanta that yells for the precious apples at exactly 7:05 am. Im the one with the 7am appt standing behind 4 other people and say here is your apples. "Yer late!" No Ma'am, your gaurds let me in to the property here at 10 PM last night early. *&^%. Dock number given.
We go through the same routine sometimes weekly. he he.Dave_in_AZ, Phenomenal and easytopleez33 Thank this. -

Well if it was me....
Contact the shipper and explain that the receiver is refusing the shipment and that you will return the load to them with double mileage if they don't want to accept the shipment. Explain that you was late and have tried to work with receiving. Get names written down and times.
Then if that does not work explain that under your contract with the broker and the agreement of the BOL that the refusing to unload the truck will have to be settled in Civil court for failing to honor the contract. You can download the documents online from the courts website.Tb0n3, nax, Mattflat362 and 1 other person Thank this.
