What's the latest and greatest in internet access? I am concerned about the 5Gb limit with the cell phone co's. Anyone know of safe, secure, unlimited access that can be used anywhere, not just truckstops?

and, while I'm asking, how much does 5Gb really get you, and IS it enough?

Google Millenicom Mobile Broadband - $70 a month unlimited access - Hardware about $100 - No contract - Uses Verizon towers I believe.

I've been with verizon about 2 years, the way i use it 5gig would never do it but i game and watch alot of vids when not rolling. I got lucky and I only get my speed governed instead of overage charges cause grandfathered in, but still sucks 25 days out of the month for watching vids. The word is that they will be going to 4g unlimited around the end of first quarter which also means higher speeds. Sprint has unlimited 4g now in select areas and capped 3g to fill in gaps, but the word is verizon will be upgrading across the board so might want to see what happens in a couple months before getting any contracts. I can say the verizon signal is fairly decent along most interstates, especially since aquiring altel. I did notice some wide dead spots across western states, but pretty much any coverage is spotty across wy/ut/nv.

not all cell companies have limits, i've been with tmobile forever and a day and i have unlimited data with my blackberry, and sprint has a plan where you can get unlimited data also. the trick is figuring out how to tether your phone to your computer to use it as a modem. i like it cause i have internet everywhere i go, i dont have to carry around extra equipment and i dont have extra bills or anything to worry about. but to each his own.

My hubby and I just got unlimited Alltel internet this weekend. It is $60 a month, the equipment was $50, but we got a rebate for $50. I am using it now but have not been on here long enough to tell you all how it is. I will try to remember to update occasionally. Oh, the 2 devices they use are not very compatible with Windows 7. They could not get it to work on my new Toshiba laptop so I am using it on my husbands Vista. They will be getting a Windows 7 device, hopefully, next week....so, we will get that when we go back in the first part of April. You all be safe out there!

Virgin Mobile Broadband has changed their rates for the better......equip cost 99.00 no contract, 1 year to renew service (so say you use it and after the 30 days are up and you don't use it again you have 1 year to renew service). I have this service and like it but found it was a little pricey compared to others but i thought what the heck its no contract. Here's the new rates.....yes at the low end its expensive. 10.00....100mb 10 days. 20.00 300mb 30 days. 40.00 1Gb 30 days. 60.00 5Gb 30 days so the last price is right inline with the other services but but your not obligated with this service and you can scale back if you don't use it much for whatever reason. Thought I would pass this on to whoever is interested

Well, we have been across I-20 from Georgia and we are now in Texas....so far, no real problems at all. The connection is not the fastest in the world, but by no means the slowest either. I do not download movies nor do I play games, so for regular surfing, I am happy with it.

Is anyone out there using Millenicom Moble Internet service? Would like to get some feedback.
Fyr Thanks this. -
I have been using Millenicom for over a year now and am extremely impressed with them. In the time I've had it, I've only been to one place that I was unable to get signal. And that was deep down in a valley where a customer was. Granted, some places can be pretty slow. The more rural areas tend to have mediocre service in terms of speed. But in the larger metro areas I get pretty fast service. Sitting in Fort Wayne, IN right now and just got done watching streaming TV from Hulu.com ....no problems. Even in the rural areas, it's pretty amazing that I can be in the middle of the Arizona Desert and still have access to internet, even if it isn't the fastest. Good enough for forums!
I highly recommend them. It's the only service I've had, but they haven't ever given me a reason to leave.
Oh, and customer service is top notch. I've called them twice. Once for a specific question about the service, and another time I had a billing goof (my credit card expired so my auto payment didn't go through - of which they never cancelled my service even after a past due bill). Both times I had zero hold time and spoke to a live, English speaking individual who was respectful and extremely polite (also followed up with an email to me just to make sure the issue was resolved).
I literally have nothing bad at all to say about them and have recommended them over and over again. Any specific questions let me know!Fyr and Dieselboss Thank this.
