No one put a gun to those clowns heads to force them to sign a contract with swift..I get so sick and tired of people who will point fingers at every direction except to themselves.

For all these irresponsible "it's not my fault" people....grow up & learn personal responsibility for yourselves & remember...that the contract you signed was totally VOLUNTARY.

Sort of like signing a mortgage and then being shocked when the variable rate you agreed to kicks up?

Read what you're signing before signing.

What you are not considering is that Swift pulled a credit report for the lease.

They know exactly who's up against the wall financially and can't run down to the bank to pay off the lease and get title to the truck. Those are their targets. The ones who can get credit, they don't fire.

Personally, I think anybody who leases anything needs their head examined, but this is thinly disguised legalized theft.

    Oor, two things:

Swift does noy pull a credit report for lease operators. They look at employment history.

And I can tell by your comments that you have never read a Swift lease contract.

Therefore, you have no idea what it is you are attempting to sound intelligent about.

Ok, learned something there. Odd that they wouldn't, as it is a loan, but employment history still would tell you a lot.

As I said. Have no interest in leasing.

I've written leases. Post the Swift lease, and maybe I'll look it over if I get time.

While I agree that they should know what they are signing up for before doing so, I also want the company to abide by their lease agreement.

There are laws on the books that stipulate what a IC is and it is claimed in this suit that Swift has not treated their IC's in this manner. The only way to get that settled is to get a ruling. I had the same problem as a IC before and filed with LI to get a judgment. Doing it as a class action just makes money for the lawyers.

As far as shaving miles just because everyone does it, does not make it right. This is the one thing when I drove OTR that I thought sucked. In this day and age the mileage payed should be as closes to the actual miles as possible since that is how the drivers are payed. Not as far away as possible by using archaic ways of paying.

And the unions had their chance to dominate the trucking industry and they screwed it up with all their thuggery and greed and are no better then KBR when it comes to their business practices.

Notice he just ducks in and out. I wonder if he spent the amount of time that spends trying to downplay Swift on some sort of life, if he'd be happier.

    Ok, went and looked.

Good enough for me to be out. I don't pay extra just to settle up a debt early.

Didn't mean to offend you, btw. If you're a lease operator and it's working for you, fine with me.

Some financing is paid for up front (i.e. closing fees), and other financing is paid for over time through an extra couple points on the interest rate, or in the event of an early payoff, a fee or penalty for doing so since they didn't get to charge the interest on the amount paid off early. Either way, they are going to get their money.

Only sure-fire way to avoid paying fees to borrow money is to just not borrow money.
