I'm always amazed that you people aren't smart enough to do your homework before you sign on with these companies!!

if your idea of "doing your homework" is listening to other drivers ##### and moan, you'd get better results by listening to a brick wall.

drivers ##### about EVERYTHING. if they don't have something to ##### about off hand, they will find something.

if there are any new drivers reading this right now, DO NOT listen to 90-95% of what you are told by other drivers, especially when you can tell their IQ has never reached room temperature.

LesteR Coggins is owned by Gainey out of Grand Rapids MI. I ran for Gainey about three weeks befor I left. Most of the stupid stuff applies for all Gainey companies Super Service is also another Gainey company.

man how things do change... i ran for lct and i has very pleased. the term was always clean, i could get all the oil n fuel right there at the term. when i worked for them (98-02) i had there fuel book 4 auth fuel stops, always off a main interst. if i needed unauthorized fuel, id QC my dm and he said ok (gal limit and wait time for my comdata card to be auth) 15-20 mins max. this was rare cause i could pump as much fuel as i needed. plus 82mph fld:biggrin_25525:.

now pls dont think im sayin it was pretty roses and great smellin manure cause it wasnt. overweight most times, rusted tamdems that i had to beat with a hammer, tight del times and worn trl tires.

yeah n my dm would ASK not tell me to del a trl full of foliage to a team cause the carrot was a hi mile load afterwards.

i left cause i had a better offer n better equip.

yeah i pulled into that SS term in GA one time for fuel and oil change.
that garage and the so called mechanics scared me so bad that i told my dm that id go to the petro to get my oil change.

I currently drive for LCT. I've been with them 3 weeks and the only time I've sat was in Massachusetts after delivering a load of juice, and the only reason I sat there was because my delivery was in the middle of the night and nothing had been lined up for me yet. The next morning, I picked up a load of frozen fish from New Bedford MA (right on the atlantic ocean) and hauled ##s to Atlanta. My 2nd biggest complaint is with T-Chek, which is like Comdata but a gazillion times more of a pain in the ##s. I don't even bother using my T-Chek card at ATMs anymore, since every F*****G time it falsely tells me I have insufficient funds, or that my transaction "cannot be processed at this time", which leads me to my biggest complaint about LCT. If you're reading this and you're about to go to LCT or thinking about it and you're completely broke like I was when they hired me, they will put a $150.00 advance on your fuel card every monday. If you need it, you can get it when you get fuel. USE IT WISELY. If you ask for more money after getting your $150 it must for a road expense (tolls, scale, etc) or else they won't give it to you, EVEN if you're completely broke and don't have food to eat. Buy as much of your food at Walmart as possible, it saves a F**KLOAD of money, and it keeps you from going hungry if you run out of money for some reason.

Also, make sure your pick-ups and deliveries are on time, or early if the shipper or receiver allow you to show up early. A lot of them don't.

Yes it is true that LCT hauls a lot of flowers, but the teams get all of them, it doesn't matter if there's a lot of them or not. If you're solo like me, you will haul all the other stuff they haul. Juice, seafood, candy, food for various fast food chains, dairy products, etc.

If you like to run anywhere west of the mississippi, I don't suggest sending in an application. As I said, I've been with the company almost a month, and the farthest west I've gone so far is Indiana.

If I can think of anything else, I'll post it on this thread.

Are you still with LCT? I am hoping to get a call any day for my orientation and am wondering how things are going for you?

You DO need to listen to other drivers, but also read the Fed reports (safestat) and be objective about everything. Not all, but alot of the "bad" reports that are written on this forum for any company can tell you alot. Most of the complainers are new to the business and you can tell by their posts that they had accidents, disobeyed company rules, fought with their DM or just plain got homesick and quit or left the truck somewhere. Not all the stories are like this but the majority are. Read between the lines and make your own decision.

Recruiters are trying to do their job and will tell you almost anything to fill their quota. You don't have to believe everythhing they say but be prepared if it isn't. For most companies, your experince will be what you make of it.

As act6629 says, "make sure your pick-ups and deliveries are on time, or early if the shipper or receiver allow you to show up early" and don't use all of your advance on food in the truck stops or that new gadget you have to have you may need it for tolls and such.

This is a business and the drivers who cannot understand that are doomed to fail.
