    I'll get at it tomorrow.

I'll take this plate off and look inside.

You have a serious rear main seal leak, get it fixed because if you don't, you will replace the clutch really quickly and if you get inspected, it can put you oos.

I talked to the mechanic. I told him I went thru a gallon of oil in 24 hours. He tells me he didn't touch the motor so it could not have been him. I got silence when I asked him about the what rear main seal, seals.

That’s ok if he wants to play stupid. If he doesn’t want to make it right, take to another mechanic and then take the other guy to small claims court to cover the repair

I hate when people will not stand up for their work.

If you had no leak when you brought it in there, then he damaged the seal or installed it incorrectly.
100% it's his fault and he should fix it.

I think that it's possible if you don't get that fixed immediately you will get oil on your clutch and then the clutch itself will have to be replaced again.

He really should just stand behind his work and fix it. It doesn't take long for a shop to drop a transmission and put a new seal in.

If you take it to another shop make sure that you take photos of everything and they document everything so it's very clear when you take him to court. And send him something in writing in a certified or registered letter so that it's known that you attempted to have him remedy this and he refused. That will make it easier for you in court.

    Good luck.

Guys this DD15 is a different animal. the rear seal will go 1mil miles and will not leak on many engines. i think mechanic did not change it because it was looking like new. To change that seal special tool is needed. I did my clutch replacement at 600k miles. the seal was like new and did not change it. I have now 850k miles and its not leaking. This seal is a good one , no way to compare with the seal of series 60. DD15 leaks a lot and as always that area is getting oily. The leak could be in many places. This engine must be inspected from up to bottom. Blaming mechanic is not ok unless it's confirmed that rear seal is leaking. Once again this engine is a different world. For sample if camshaft housing seal will be bad that area will be oil covered.

    Rideandrepair and 77fib77 Thank this.

I was wondering if they didn't have the special tool. I was watching YouTube videos on instaling the seal.
