As a person who has been doing extensive research on Prime and is planning on joining their training program in a couple months, this thread makes me want to insist on a company trainer. And that's not something against L/Os. I don't want the extra pressure of knowing I could potentially cost an L/O's family some money, and I don't want the extra adversarial relationship of an L/O being afraid of me potentially costing his family money. I want to work for this large company, not an L/O, and so I want this large company to assume my risks while I am training.
What will they say to me if I insist on a company instructor/trainer? -
I'd assume he feels awful. If I were him I'd feel like total garbage and try to hand you my last 500 bucks. Avoiding this situation is why I made the post right above.

I wouldn't take it if he offered. Yes he had an accident and he learned from it! The money issue is between prime and me. He is an employee of prime yes his pay is taken from my revenue but at the end of the week his check is from them not me and they should be responsible for his actions. And since that is not the case I will no longer be a trainer for prime! I just wanted this post to make other lease op trainers aware of their responsibility of their trainees actions in case they were under the impression they weren't

Hey Purple! Just a thought here... you might want to go back and really read that lease agreement you have with Success Leasing, and the operating agreement you have with Prime. All of your responsibilities under these contracts are clearly spelled out... including the consequences of a trainee under your supervision pranging Prime's property while you're responsible for it.
TruckDuo Thanks this. -
Ironpony you are absolutely correct! I was in the process of re reading my contract when you posted this. It is in there in black ink right above my signature. I know how I missed it though I came into this lease like most guys prob do never having the intention of being a trainer. So I'm sure I skimmed right over that section 2 years ago. That being said I am sure there are several lease operators who are unaware of their responsibilities just as I was.. I'm not blaming prime for that I do think that policy is horse manure but I can't change it but I can do what I already said and that is to quit training. I will no longer take that risk!!!!!!

You know they upped em to $700 right?
When I did my certification Stan made it very clear that we would have to pay the deductible. -
My trainer has never mentioned it but this makes me really feel bad about my door issue a couple weeks back.

What's Prime got to do with it? You leased a truck from Success Leasing, and signed a contract stating that you were responsible for its condition, including returning the truck in that condition... and that when you hooked onto one of the trailers that Prime Inc. provided to you that you'd be responsible for its condition and damages to it as well. Your employee... aka the "student" damaged that trailer and someone else's as well. Now you're complaining that someone else (Prime Inc.) should absorb your costs that you incurred because your employee bashed a trailer? Come on Purple! Get real. You're running a business, and if you're going to be in business you get to man up to the table and be a businessman.sazook Thanks this.
