I am looking into going into a lease operator position. Not sure what to look at and how to know of I am getting the short end of the stick here.
I like the idea of maybe pulling my own loads from a load board, and not have to deal with a DM.
I have a friend that is trying to point me to USA for lease opp, but I am open to opinions here.
Thank you

Met a woman at Walmart grocery store in Las Vegas and she said her husband works for John Christner Trucking and said he does well there.
I'm not recommending the company because I've never done a lease-purchase.
The buyout at the end of the lease is $1.00 (one dollar) and the truck is yours.

Well its much easier to deal with a dm who is a dick head than to survive off the loadboard

We,(husband and wife team), did very well at JCT. They are a pretty good family run operation and we enjoyed our time there. We made good money while paying our weekiy truck note and obviously much better money once we paid off truck with a one dollar buyout at the end. Our DM actually gave us our dollar back while congratuling us, TC is really cool.
It took us 3 1/2 years to pay off the $156,000 loan on a new 17' Cascadia.
I literally have nothing negative to say about them except they expect their teams to constantly rescue loads from solos and their pay, currently is a little low at $1.13 per mile for teams. A nickel lower for solos.
If you're good at numbers, fuel mileage and finding cheap fuel you can do well there. It is more difficult to do well there as a solo but easy as a team.
Also, I would stay away from their newer KW's as they've had many electrical issues and are often in the shop.Dino soar, black_dog106, Chinatown and 2 others Thank this. -
The build date on our truck was 2/16 in case anyone was trying to work out the math on that 17' model paid out over 3 1/2 years. We got in 4/16.

There are some that got lucky.
Most, however, do not.
Too much of a gamble I'd think with the low rate pay megas offer.HD_Renegade and JonJon78 Thank this. -
