Maybe you should in order to know the true operating costs of your truck and the income generated.

I do know the operating costs of my truck and the income generated. I just don't separate the money I make off recruiting because it is all revenue. I can make enough without recruiting to still average $1300 a week after expenses.

I've read this whole thread and I also do a L/P.From the post's of 4 or 5 different guy's at 4 or 5 different company's,the O/P of this has been proven to be wrong and ingnorent of true fact's and has somehow decided that his blanket comments are true, maybe so in his own mind.I really like the 22 yr old kid that's doing a L/P and making it work. He's exactly right. He has a rare commodity called "AMBITION" and is out working hard for a goal of owning his own truck, and I truly applaud him for that. His peer's as he stated are doing nothing, which is now the typical actions of America's youth.I like to see a young guy like that out here trying his best to succeed. That is why even us old guy's are doing a L/P,trying our best and working hard to be more successful, and better ourselves and our family's.

I would assume the O/P is perhaps a Obama supporter, where you instantly attack people that are successful,or attempting to be more successful. So all you L/P drivers out there, keep up the good fight!

    pete3871,

If you can make it work, then please share with me how.

When I run the numbers on these L/P programs, I come up in the red all the time.

Enough to not want to take a chance on it.

Then you are looking at the wrong companies. Yes there are some real bad ones out there but there are also some that are not bad.

Pete is a lease operator at the same company I am at. To be honest every guy I know there that has failed in our program has done one of two things wrong. Either they have went home a lot more than they can afford or they have went out and ran as fast as the truck will go all the time just wasting fuel.

I think the main reason a lot of guys want to become owner operators are so they can go home more or drive a faster truck. Those two reasons are the worst reasons to do it because you are just setting yourself up for failure.

    azcardnlz Thanks this.

Most of our guys go home every other weekend. I stay out about a month and then take 5-6 days off. I average about 2500 miles a week which includes the weeks I take time off.

Maybe, but the dollars you are boasting about, are distorted to say the least and a misrepresentation to what you are making under a lease program.

    Jackofalltrades1977 and BigKid2 Thank this.
