    Why does it matter?
A leased truck is a tool to accomplish a task. Nothing more, nothing less.
Think of it in terms of the local contractor leases a bobcat to do a job.
He leases, he completes the job, he gets paid, he turns it back in.

The biggest problem with lease people is they don't understand this concept.
A truck is a tool. No more, no less.

It makes a difference in the amount you have to pay every week. I'd say that can make a difference in whether you succeed or fail.

And when I was there, Swift leases were not walk away leases. So it wasn't quite like leasing a bobcat.

Actually it is. If it's not a walk away, it's a straight up lease obligation.
You see, you guys get confused by the difference between a LEASE and a LEASE PURCHASE.
If I'm the guy with the bobcat, I really don't care who owns it once I'm done. I only care that its available when I need it .
Never do a lease purchase. It's a fools game.
However, leasing a truck where you can COMPLETELY DECIDE WHEN AND WHERE YOU GO, kinda works.
Swift would not be one of those companies

The person I was asking about new vs. used is a Swift driver though.

Most all YouTube truckers go broke, or get donations. I will give examples of some folks.
    Little Guy.
    Lil Dog.
    Ike Stephens.
    Truckers coach
    And soon Mark Anthony Storm.
They try but they have not been driving long enough to know nothing more than what they were taught at training. Yet they are leasing a truck.
I do not dislike any of these people but I refuse to watch them beg for likes, and subscriptions, for anything than pure entertainment.
I do out of those names respect Ike Stephens, he had been driving since he was 21 I think. And has drove many types of freight.
But not many become successful with their own truck. Myself included. I need to pull myself out of a big hole.

Oh ... I misunderstood. I was trying to spare your feelings ... The production is actually pretty poor and the content presentation was boring.

First truck was new. ... Took over an existing lease with 23 months left. Second truck was a used company truck ...not actually lease. It was structured as straight purchase ... 34 months to pay off.

Swift leases are walk away. Or were. Can't say what they are now.
