Well it's true about lease purchase...don't do it! ACT was supposed to be a good one. They have nice trucks, payments are $500 to $600 a week, they are all Kenworths, but you have to be in their little clique to make any money there. They will not work with you once you go in the hole. And their runs are 400 to 600 miles and they want you to do it in 2 days or more. Average miles are 2000 a week. Whatever you have heard good about them, it's not. They are owned by a group of lawyers so the contract is written to where you will not get any money back. What they do is after you are fired or quit they leave your truck sit and not be leased until your escrow money is gone and then they release it. They have no freight for the amount of trucks they have to where you can make a living for your family. You get the bills paid on the truck but that's it. STAY AWAY!!!!!

Another lease victim. Sorry to hear about it. Hope you can pick up a company driver position real soon to get you back on your feet.

Why does anyone think that the weekly payment is the important thing in these deals? This is just like someone who goes into an auto dealership, pays too much for a car, takes on a high-interest loan, and then walks away happy because they can make the monthly payment.
What matters is how much you're paying to buy the truck, including interest, and all of the other add-ons, and how much you're going to make running it, once you've forked over what you owe to the company.Dryver, Lonesome and Rollover the Original Thank this. -
Companies do lease programs cause they make money..A fool and his money will soon be parted!!!! most people that do a lease, dont have the means or credit to buy a truck..You dont get a truck from the same hand that feeds you..drivers will never learn

Here is the deal. If you don't think you are qualified to start up and run a business, don't lease. Could you open and run a restaurant? a hardware store? It is all the same principals as going into business for yourself as a trucker. Just because you can pick up loads and deliver them on time does not qualify you to own and run a trucking company, which is what leasing is. This is a general statement and not a slam on this guy.
Lonesome Thanks this.
