I applied for my authority couple months back and I got a mc# and a dot# but I’m leasing onto a company so I really don’t need it. I haven’t put any insurance on the numbers but will I still get audit? Also what responsibilities do I have for the numbers since I applied ? Trying to get it deactivate or revoked

Without putting Insurance on to your numbers your Authority is not active. I think they give you 90 days to put insurance on and if you do not then you have to reapply for your Authority. You will not be audited because you have no active authority to audit.

If you Google FMCSA how to delete my authority they take you through the steps to do that.

Otherwise @brian991219 can give you a definite answer.

I think Dino soar is 110% correct. You authority is not activated without insurance, BOC3 etc. you can go check it on FMCSA though. You would have to reapply after the 90 days.they should have sent you a letter saying you needed this, this, and this to become active by this date,

Maybe you can offer it for sale? I read there are some guys willing to pay BIG money for an MC #.

Protect your CDL and get that MC. num. put on hold or your state will see that you have no Insurance. on the truck and in a few mo. you will get a letter saying that cdl will be sup. for no Insurance. on your truck, then you will have to send proof of that truck was covered with co. you are signed on with don't ask how I know??

@Dino soar is absolutely correct. Since you never had insurance filed your application will be considered dismissed after 90 days. You then have 365 days to either get insurance filed or your application will be permanently dismissed and if you want authority in the future you will need to reapply again including the filing fee.

Your only obligation if not using your US DOT and MC number is to file an updated MCS-150 as "out of business" so they can retire the DOT number. This will stop any and all enforcement actions.
