Looks like the problem is in justifying the very possession of a business use car. In other words, in the IRS eyes, an owner operator - "one dog and pony show" style does not need an asset like that.

Plus now, business milage takes precedent over personal milage. -
If it’s illegal, then I’m guilty.I leased every 2 yrs from 1996 thru 2008. When leasing became more expensive and Market was flooded with good used cars.I had 2 Jeep Cherokees, 2 Dodge Durango’s and a minivan. Deducted all payments, only criteria Accountant suggested was the ability to carry a Truck Tire if needed. Lol She’s been doing Truckers for years. I’m sure it was just fine. Seeing all the deals now, I’m tempted to get a new pick up.It was nice to know my wife had a dependable vehicle and to be free of having to maintain one. Let Me focus on maintaining my Truck. Usually never even change wiper blades. But at the end of lease you’re back at square one. Even with employee discounts it was expensive in the long run.

Instead of calling it a work vehicle, could the company not lease the vehicle and offer it as a perk to the owner of the company?
Sure the company and the owner are one in the same, but on paper it's two entities.
Basically like any exec in any company that gets a company car, stock, etc along with their salary?
Or would it still not be able to be written off as an expense?TallJoe Thanks this.
