If I decided to lease a truck through the England..........

    1. Is the truck new or used?
    2. Am I paying 1.25 per gallon of fuel?
    3. Am I using insurance through CR England or provide my own?
    4. For anyone that does lease and run solo......how much cash do you have leftover after you pay your truck payment, fuel, and insurance? (Please don't include your other personal bills.)

Thank you for your time and comments.

First thing to keep in mind. When you lease you are starting and are in business. Second thing to keep in mind, of all start up business of any type, 80% will fail in the first year.

YOU have to do YOUR due diligence, and build YOUR own business plan to to put the foundation in place for YOUR sucess. If you can't do the basics of business you will fail. No amount of hard work will make you a sucess.

It's recommended by most experienced drivers to NOT get into a lease fresh out of school. You should drive as a company driver for at least a year to make certain it's what you want. It's more than just a truck payment and insurance to worry about, much more. You should have at least $5,000 in the bank for emergencies at all times. There are many unforeseen expenses that pop up that can be detrimental. Do some research online as well as talk to experienced drivers and research several different companies before you consider leasing. Should you decide to lease, make sure you have a transportation attorney go over the contract with a fine toothed comb !

Thank you MysticHZ, again. Your feedback is always appreciated and valuable. I won't be attending Premier until next week, but I am looking forward to it. My soon to be Father-In-Law has been in the business for 20+ years as an O/O, moving Military members I believe. He has the day off tomorrow and he is going to cover some of the basics of the business with me. Since I have no debt except for a cheap mortgage payment, and a monthly retirement check from the military, I am seriously considering jumping right into the lease program. Man, I am so excited, I can hardly wait!! It feels like the first time I convoyed through Iraq......#### I miss getting shot at!!! Ha!!

    Leanright,

Thank you for your feedback! I would agree with the experienced drivers about waiting a year to see if it's what I want to do, however, I also know that CR England has their lease program for a reason, and my guess is that they are probably trying to get rid of some of their expenses.....which I totally agree. I do not think that everyone should be given the opportunity at leasing fresh out of training, but it is not my company and not my rules. I am just thankful that I found a company, CR England, that offers the opportunities that are in front of me, especially with the economy the way it is today. I have lived in Dayton, OH for the last 2 years and there is almost nothing here as far as work goes. I am not getting into trucking only because there is nothing here in Dayton and I hope that no one else would either. Honestly, I just know that I loved driving for the military and I know that I would do great out on the road.

Be careful what you wish for ... my son did two combat tours. When an oncoming car hit the divider in an ice storm last winter he thought an IED went off. Between that and the constant truck wrecks that we see, it triggered his PTSD and he doesn't drive anymore ... va has him in for 60%.

Say thank you to your Son for his service for me please. I was fortunate to come back without any signs of PTSD, according to the military doctors and the VA.

How can you weigh both the pros and the cons if your only taking the positive feedback? I see no way to make a good judgement call with only have of the information.

    Just my 1.8 cents worth.
