The good thing about leasing from places like Lone Mountain is that the truck is not the property of the trucking company you run for. That means, if you don't like the rules to the playground, you can take your toys and leave. It's not you LOSING your truck, or getting starved out, or nickel and dimed by the fleet mechanics who can raid your maintenance accounts every time you pull on the yard. And, those BuyHerePayHere places will set you up on a monthly payment instead of that weekly crap that snowballs whenever you go home...meaning, you're not penalized for going to the house. And you will normally pay a fourth of what you would pay leasing from a company that you drive for.
One more thing...it's not about credit, it's about down payment money. Just be mindful to avoid that place down in Gulfport,MS that has to change it's name every other year because of their shady business practices.
What sort of shady practices
If you see a truck advertised as having an inframe done and a warrantee, that gets your attention, right? Sure it does. But if you notice in the fine print where it says that you agree to get all of your PM services in a shop of their choosing or the warrantee is void, THATS A SHAM! If a legit shop did a legit inframe, that warrantee should stand regardless of where you go to get an oil change. That's like buying a car with Warrantees, but having to fuel up only at gas stations selected by the dealer. Transmission goes it and you go to the dealer and they tell you that since you bought gasoline at an unauthorized gas station, it voided your power train warrantee. Don't let anyone fool you.
And since I am on this subject, I may as well mention the old Bait and Switch. You see a truck you like. You inquire about it, and they do all the financing and whatnot and tell you everything's a go. Suddenly the truck is gone. They call you back an hour or so later with another truck. That's the old bait and switch. If you're coming in with your money, and they know this, how are they just going to sell the truck you wanted, right? The next truck they show you, they are going to offer at a special deal, just for you, because they're nice people and you're so special. Yeah right. I crush em when they try to yank me. "Thanks, but no thanks. I wanted the other one. I will look at another dealer." And the salesman will say something about how he values your business and whatnot, and you tell him that he should have valued your business before he sold the truck you were interested in and hang up. Then they call back a day or so telling you that the sale fell through and whatnot and that the truck you wanted is once again available(Ummm yeah, sure. Remember, he told you that you were special. Sat right up by the bus driver on the short bus and licked the windows). If you want to negotiate a better deal, nows your time. Me, they had one chance and blew it, so I'd tell them to Goeth Intercourse Thyself. If you can't walk away, something's wrong.
So far, this year has been the slowest since 2009. That means it's the absolute best time to buy a truck. Just do your homework on the specs of the truck. Measure twice. Cut once.
