    Hello,
My New Freightliner just arrived last Friday,
I (haven’t prepared) for my own authority yet.

Then I designed to work under someone’s Authority that take % and provide all kind of paperworks I needed. (Just wanna make it easier while I’m waiting for my own authority to be done.)

**I have my EIN and LLC already **
(That’s all I have for now)

So this is what I understand..
    -I must use their DOT#,MC#
-They will register the truck IRP using their DOT# .
-will get most permit papers the truck needs.
    -and provide the ELD

Priory to arrival to get the truck out from
    the yard ,they(dealership) required
    1.2290 (Heavy vehicles use tax)
    2. Certificate of insurance.

    My questions..
In this case can I get my own 2290?
-using my EIN and my LLC to apply for the 2290?

    or
I must apply 2290 under the leasing on company’s name ,since I’m going to run under their Authority?

    Thank you!

    Truckerbookkeepingservice or OOIDA...
Search either of the two, call them up and they'll tell you everything you need to know.

    PNEY Thanks this.

Omg, why did you get a truck before you figured this all out?

go apply to a large company to lease to, they will explain everything and make sure you do it right.

do not get your own authority until you worked within a carrier for a few years.

but to answer your questions, 2290 is on you. It is a federal tax for owning and using the truck.

Also buy you own plates, do not let the carrier give you plates. You will need to have a contract with the carrier for the plates, and also for the rolling stock tax exemption.

You need to pay 2290 using your EIN.
