So I’m going to be leasing on with a company and they are providing insurance. The only thing I need is bobtail insurance. What I’m wanting to know is if I can still keep my authority active and reduce my liability to 750k which from what I read is the minimum requirement to have an authority ? Also will this cause any problems by keeping my authority active?

You can do that you just have to keep all your paperwork up . However some carriers like landstar want proof you pulled your authority…..

I leased on to a company and kept my authority active. I didn't make any changes to my insurance. It is more than sufficient while you are bobtail.

Make sure that the company that is responsible for the insurance is set apart by Operated BY next to the name and DOT number. Other than bobtail insurance it makes no sense to pay for the same insurance twice. Once on your own, and the second by giving the carrier you are leased to their percentage of the revenue.
