The CPAP merely pressurizes the air so your soft tissues(palate) don't collapse causing obstruction. It doesn't breathe for you. I have other problems not addressed by the darned things and I won't be bullied by some quack into using one,. but all you have to do is remove it; it is not a forced resuscitation device
Leave your dog in the cab???

I mean it to! As I understand why, I don't understand why they want drivers in their truck being hot!!!!
SAD, SAD, SAD & MORE SADS. -
I realize calling it a "breathing machine" isn't the proper term, but my main concern is that it is a requirement for some that they have it on the truck with them, and it is kind of pointless if they can't run it while they are trying to sleep. -
Well i allways ran with a co driver (dog) usualy they turn out to be your best freind for sure and they are a great deterent for thieves. I never lost a thin gout of my truck and never had any one want to get anywhere close to my truck when the baby was in it. The first one i had was probably the most well know dog in the trucking industry every one new Patchs and every one had the same problem except one and that was she hated every one and didn't like any one close to her truck. Now one freind of mine could have stole the truck trailer and all and she would have helped him she loved N4OUG to death he was the only one that could get any where close to the truck with her. The last one i still have ut she as at home waiting on the next time we hit the road which will be in a couple of years probably. She is a Pit bull and before any one says any thing she loves people. Mostly now there are a few she doesn't like and those i stay away from if she doesn't like them there is a reason and i trust her instinct better than mine. Trucking with a dogt was never a problem and any where i went they never gave me a problem about idoling with them in the truck and no one ever questioned it. some places went out of there way to make her comfortable i was in a freighliner shop for some work and told them i would take her out when they got ready to work on it and they said not to worry they had a spot for her and put her in the managers office while they worked on the truck couldn't ask for any thing any better. All in all if your a dog person like me you will love traveling with your best freind and they will love it beeing with you they get spoiled to 1 on 1 time and want it all the time and realy become attached.

In Iowa as long as the windows are cracked and the animal has access to water, it isnt in danger. I worked at a casino for 5 years, we had this come up alot, never a problem with the truckers.
4 wheelers, we had a lot. saw a guy arrested for leaving his 2 dogs in the cab of his s-10 for 4.5 hours with no water on a 104 degree day. We, the state police, and animal rescue, broke the window out after an hour and got them out after paging him 7 times to return to his vehicle. He comes out and asks what the hell happened to his truck, and tells us hes going to sue us. he was immediately read his rights and taken to county. Were not given follow ups as to what happened by the (SP) but his vehicle remained on our lot for 3 days, and i saw his dogs on the local animals up for adoption thing on the news.
If you have a pet, dont be stupid. if its too hot for you to be in the truck with no water, it is for your animal too. and leave the window cracked in the heat, itll make it more comfortable for you to get back in the cab anyway. ever been outside on a hot day and seen the "vapors" coming out of a cracked window? -
Hello all,
We have two dogs and one of them is a Siberian Husky and they ride with us all the time, our Husky is even hot when it is 70 degrees..LOL...we have never had a problem with running our truck to keep it cool in the summer or warm in the winter, when we are not able to hook up to idleaire, we let our truck idle, our babies are not going to burn up, and nobody so far has said anything to us about it, and we run all 48 states. That's just our opinion. We might shut our truck off when it's comfortable outside, but if Harley (Our Husky) starts panting, Scott fires the truck back up. Nobody is going to tell us to let our dogs burn up or freeze, including the government, if we get a ticket, fine, we will gladly pay it, but for a year and a half that we have been with Arrow, nobody has said a word to us about our truck running

If the tree huggers and their friends over at the EPA would only mandate Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) be installed on all OTR class 8 sleeper trucks, the idling would be curtailed, the air would be cleaner, a lot of fuel would be saved, operating cost would decrease, and, driver's (pets too) would be happier.
$7,000 will purchase a good APU, installed. Probably cheaper on a fleet deal, or at the time the tractor is manufactured. The fuel savings alone would pay for the darn thing within the first year of operation.
Using a 400 hp diesel to spin an air conditioning compressor for ten hours a day seems really stupid to me. However, I don't buy the fuel, and I ain't laying down and going to sleep with the windows open (duh-huh), so I chill the cab, roll up the windows, and lock the doors, all while fast idling the engine for the duration.
I promise you, the bureaucrats who devise these anti-trucker schemes do so while sitting in a nice air conditioned office, in a climate controlled ivory tower that requires more energy, and spews more pollutants than an entire fleet of trucks. -
I had a dock worker come out and tell me to turn off my truck in Dallas when it was near 100. They also told me I had to stay in the truck.
Left truck running and told them, they worked in A/C, so did I.
They never came back. -
Right now, many are not buying because they are very new to the market, and nobody knows for sure which one to invest in. If you have 100 trucks, that is a $700,000 investment. You want to be sure you are getting the best one on the market.
The company I am at only runs 40-50 trucks, but all the new trucks are being fitted with an APU, and an automatic transmission.
Of course, you still have the issue that no current APU meets California's guidelines, and there is no conversion available yet to make an APU meet their guidelines. Reason #104567206430296748 that Calfornia needs to break loose from the United States and go attach itself to another country. -
