yeah I really don't think I want to 34 in chicago ( at a truck stop) so I am looking at places outside of town. At least the weather is great , all in all it was a easy low mile week.
I'm telling you, park at the petro in monee. University park Metra station is only three miles.... it takes you straight into chicago for like $10 round trip. Get a room for the night.
Just wanted to thank you guys for staying with this thread. I'll be starting my second week of the four week CDL training tomorrow here in Tucson and am leaning towards Melton. Everyone I've spoken with so far has seemed genuine and friendly. I like the idea of flatbedding because I'll get more physical activity and hopefully make that paycheck a bit bigger. AZ, if you have never taken the time to visit Chicago, you should take Noggin's advice and get into the city. It's a great city to visit in the springtime. If you are the museum type, they have some great ones. I spent most of my childhood about 30 minutes from the city, so if you need any recommendations, let me know.
I am not a fan of huge cities with frequent random crime happenings. I prefer out of the way trucks stops/rest areas over inner city ones. Not to mention its not how I enjoy blowing 1-200 bucks. I am not much of a low budget goofer off-er so I save my money and splurge a little when I go home and hang out with my kids. Good luck on your new career, I went to Tucson quite a bit delivering newspapers from phoenix and my niece goes to U of A .
Unloaded at 7 am , crane was down so it took forever - Its a shame we can't just back up really fast and hit the brakes I know that 43k coil would have just rolled right off. Sat for a few hours watched Spiderman and then went over to Bedford Park and picked up 2 coils and I'm headed to Laredo.
Man, your thread is bringing back some memories. I'm missing Melton trucklines right about now. Best OTR job I had!l LTL pays better tho, yet extremely predictable.
Wish I was heading to Laredo. I get over bronchitis and crap one week, the next week I'm being sent into the frozen tundra of North Dakota. :/
Well I had a cake week. shicago to laredo and laredo to L.A.( north of not central), sitting in phx right now waiting for kids to get here to go to the movies and stuff. 2900 +miles , 1 tarp , 1 extra stop. <<<<<<<gravy train goes choo choo p.s. have I mentioned before Paul Owens is the greatest DM ever ? well he is .
