great week , should be about 3k miles 2 tarped loads, squeezed a six flags day in on saturday in St. Louis, Unloading tommorrow am in Laredo then we'll see what we can get out of here.
jomar68 Thanks this. -
Six Flags? Wow.. Y'all really get time in to do fun stuff while on a run? Or are you on a reset?
-
I'm always doing stuff. Baseball games, football games....I don't sit in this truck if i don't have to. Most times on resets, sometimes i get there ear ly and there is something to do
-
Noggin what is the policy on dropping trailer to go home?
-
I'm hoping I'll end up in a few cities where I can hit some zoos and museums during resets. Course I'm also hoping that I can hit home for a couple resets into days off to maximize my time with the kids.

yes , we did splash town a week before six flags. average week is about 2200-2400 miles, not to say you won't get more but the sooner you get used to 2200-2400 the better off you will be. your 10 is your ten and when you have your run planned out you have more than ten hours to do whatever you want. ( except drinking unless there are special precautions taken ) you don't need a reset to do something fun , you need to plan it out and then follow a schedule to stay on track with your run. We are in Laredo tonight and going to the movies. Man of Steel.

Don't drink so no worries there. My son wants to tag along for Aug if I have my own truck by then, so trying to figure things to keep him entertained. (He's ADHD with Aspberger's)

If your an experienced driver and flatbedder then I would say have fun , if your learning to drive and flatbed at the same time I would say better wait on bringing any passengers for at least a few months after you go solo - you will be challenged to say the least . I am not doubting your abilities as a individual at all however its very very stressful starting out and its just crazy to add problems. This is a very real job where other people make your life hard daily in traffic not to mention dangerous , the shippers and consignees many times have horrible acccess with a huge truck and trailer and you are .5 second away from hitting something many times and then there is good ol mother nature who thinks its hilarious to hose you down and freeze your tarps and straps or cook you like a hot dog. I am very happy with what I do for a living but I know any ol person can't do it and every week I will have to do something that is hard and thats why I stay interested. for example when I picked up this load I unloaded this morning on last friday I saw a driver take out some landscaping and break a sprinkler system backing into the bay next to me, and unloading this morning 2 drivers ran out of fuel and needed road service to get their trucks started ( before they could unload ) all because they parked on a little bank that barely tipped their fuel tanks sideways. Its always interesting out here if you pay attention.

Heh. And this is why I'm such a basket case of nerves. Sad to say, I'll be one of those you need to watch out for as I'm a friggin Noob.
