Took me 3 days, but I finally got out of Colorado Springs; first 2 was due to a blown 70. I was one of six trucks in the Denver area that got deadheaded out. At least me and another guy I saw when I filled up are going to OK City. Had a good week (longest for me) at over 2700 miles plus a tarp. Didn't seem like I went that far. We'll see what tomorrow brings for the weekend. Hopefully another long one to make up for 3 days of sitting.

I was rerouted to Phx for a repower/hometime on my way to Bakersfield from Denver. When I got there the repower guy never showed up or called ( I sent him my number and a message or two ). So I called my DM when Melton people were closing in Tulsa and he said " O you didn't get the message , the repower guy broke down and was towed to phx , by the way we still need to deliver his load. He never made it to his drop , so I swapped trailers and went and delivered his load , cost me one night and about 4 hours for 39 miles worth of pay .
Can't get mad at melton, the repower guy could have been cool and called me and said " hey this is whats up " and I could have grabbed his trailer earlier and got it delivered , he just blew it off and said screw everybody,
Melton could have let me know at some point instead of leaving me sitting at a truck stop without any idea nobody was ever going to show up , in their defense they had their hands full figuring out what all to do to get these loads back on track, still someone dropped the ball in keeping me in the loop.
None of this is a real big deal cause when stuff didnt happen when it was suppose to I knew better than to wait and see , but I suppose I learned that at melton a while back lol.
Happy to be at home when I got off today about 9:30 ish, I got into Phx yesterday at noonhallellujah Thanks this. -
Does melton send u to orientation at a terminal closest to where u live I'm from ny and attending on the 26th of september just got to get my ny metal coil endorsement Monday.
-
Yes you'll probably get sent to Masury OH. Or. Tulsa if there isn't enough people
-
Shoot for Masury! Eric and Joe are great and they have small classes so you move through the items pretty quick.
-
Yeah that would be better not having to go as far.
-
They do pretty small classes. We started with 4 and finished with 3. I was the greenest of green and the other two had previous flatbed experience; one with Melton and the other with a variety of companies. Course I still don't have much experience (just over a month), but I am having a great time. I have been as far west as Colorado. Now in Georgia looking at home time in about 10 days. There have been some glitches here and there, but overall I am VERY happy with the miles and the company.

Thats cool what stuff do u for orientation and how long were u there before u went on the road

I got there on Monday and had my first load on Friday afternoon. What a nightmare for me, but a standard load. Your recruiter will have a list of things that you need to bring. Problem is, you don't know where your truck is going to be or how you will get there to get it so pack accordingly. First couple of days were tough since I didn't have any food or water in the truck. Hit a truck stop that had a Wally World next door and stocked up on food, water and a Coleman 12v cooler. Life was now good and saved my life from the heat and humidity I hit on the first few loads. Now I am hitting a WW every week to ten days; saves LOTS of $$$.
I brought my electronics; trucker GPS, Iphone, hands free headset, etc. Got through the house over Labor Day (about 2 weeks after getting my truck) so got my laptop and life is good. Your DM is supposed to get you through the house in the first little bit which makes life easier. I now have a small (750 watt) microwave. Looking to get a coffee maker, too. I relate it to camping. -
Cool how long were u with ur trainer before they let u roll
