I hauled mail for a independent contractor for the last 15 months.
Last week I got a phone call from my boss that the broker lost the contract. So went to an interview at saia and got hired on for a linehaul position that came available the day before. There's 16 drivers on the list before me, so I'll probably start as a system driver. Starting cpm
    .78 cpm in 6 months.82 cpm
Was wondering if someone can tell me what to expect.
    Thanks.

Good show, I don't think you can go wrong with Saia, been around a while. Certainly better than that dinosaur we call USPS. I knew of companies that hauled mail exclusively in the 90s,( with new Peterbilts) now have switched to only freight hauling and never see a letter. You may or may not like line haul. Pay is good, rarely get lost, predictable home times, but it's incredibly boring. P&D offers a bit more variety, pay a bit better, but has challenges of its own. For example, it's 4:45 PM, just got out of traffic, wifey has a nice evening planned, dispatch hits you, "you need to go back to Whatsis Co., ( you just came from there) they have another pallet for us",,,that's where the money comes in.

That’s the one thing that gets me hot under the collar in a hurry. Don’t spring #### on me at the last minute.

I had one call in 1 skid Friday when I was 20 miles away on my way home. No, it’s already 4:00 and I’m a hundred miles from the yard. That #### will be there Monday.

They are not like Estes extraboard guys. You will go home everyday. They set you up round trip each night. You could also cover vacations etc when schedules are off. I been getting 2600 - 2900 miles a week.
