    Shown below is the question that @Goldenfan is referring to.

    God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

    The Original Question:
    So this is a question I have and I know it's not the same for most. Can a new driver pay the company upfront for their training/school and the company then pays them back in reimbursement as long as they drive for them? If the driver gets a different job the company will not be out anything if the driver leaves before the school is paid off because it was paid for upfront.
    I know some will say go to an actual school then so you're not obligated to anyone. Tech schools are very long and you're not paid while there vs company schools that are much shorter until you're getting a paycheck. Also in my area there are no schools close. It's 3 to 4 hours away. The shorter private ones probably don't teach as well as the company school. The closest is Diesel Driving school in Sun Prairie and it's known as a CDL mill. I also have known a couple of people that went through there and they don't recommend it.

    BTW I have excellent credit and can pay if I left a company.

    @Goldenfan
    One possible suggestion:

    Call the company that you would like to go to for training and ask the question. Perhaps they will work with you using the solution that you suggested. You won't know until you find out.

    Good luck to you! God bless you and your entire family!

    Only the government and those that enforce the government laws can remove your license from you, and after all a license is a privilege not a right, however if part of your driver training to get you CDL was provided by a carrier they would of required you to sign a contract under contract law you would be required to pay the remainder of the money owed if you leave the company, which is why when you sign those contracts its always important to read the fine print. or pay a contract lawyer to go over it for you.
