Youre giving me a different answer then somebody else told me. They said the wires should have never been that low in the first place. My idea was that if a no truck sign is designated for that area then you would be at fault. However, if there is no sign I think all obstructions should be at least 13'6.

By the way, he said no truck signs visible or not didnt matter. That all wires and everything overhead should have truck clearance.

ok so obviously, you DID take down some wires..........and did you run off as well..???

first, there aren't any height limits in some areas for wires. it can only be "assumed" the height should be at least 13'6", but then if you "assume", you lose.

second, no matter whether there is a sign or not, YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE for knocking down those wires.........PERIOD.

third, there could have been a sign, but some punks could have removed it, or a car could have destroyed it in an accident, or it could have just fallen down due to rusted nuts/bolts. either way, YOU as the driver is responsible to make sure you have clearance.

i'm guessing here that this was done in some sort of residential neighborhood, or even a busines/residential area, in which you had to go through to get to the business.

either way, if someone witnessed you taking down the lines, rest assured you have been reported.

and lastly, no you are wrong, not all obstructions should be 13'6"........its whatever way that area is set-up...........they are not required by any law(s) to hang wires at a certain height for your convienence. you have to pay attention, and if you are never completely sure, then G.O.A.L. (get out and look).................

by your concept then, the railways viaducts in chicago, or new york should be at least 13'6" as well...........??

and all "low overpasses" should be 13'6" too..........??

    good luck.................it ain't gonna happen.............

by your questioning, and responding, you had an accident...........

my question though..............did you run off...............?????

I think you assume a little too much there chief lol. Why was it all of a sudden me taking down wires? No, Ive never taken any wires down. I was talking to a guy who delivers furniture to peoples houses and he told me he took down some wires and people were yelling at him and he kept going :smt042. And no he apparently wasnt reported. And by the way, all those rails and viaducts you mentioned have clearance signs posted. I mean unless youre going off-roading or something hahaha. As for your opinion on low wires, wheres the proof? You keep telling me they are this they are that but you dont post a link to anything.

Maybe it sounds desperate but I don't care, I am willing to go drive for any company, preferably OTR. I know w/ certain alc. related incidents some companies will look at them on a case-by-case-basis, and this is what I want to know. Do u know of any companies that look at those or other accidents/violations on case-by-case cuz I know I couldn't hav hurt anyone in that accident, It didn't even feel like I hit anything, like I said I just heard some screeching noiz, so man, I don't want to hire an attorney and go thru that process, if I could find a company with some symp.

no, you are wrong. not all those railways and viaducts have low clearance signs. have you ever seen vandalism take place....?? you know, when some "youths" spray paint or destroy state or city property, let alone private property...??

never assume that they will all be marked, because they all won't be.....

it can be "assumed" the wires are at least 13' 6" from the ground, but you can not always "assume" that. the "average" garbage truck is "usually" 12' to 13' tall. these trucks need to get into many areas. but never assume the wires are actually that high. its not my opinion. i used to drive a garbage truck, and mine was 13' 5" tall..................and that included by the way, the power ram on the roof of the body for the hopper to operate.

i would think that either Swift or Werner would give you a "second chance".............you may not like either company, but they need drivers. maybe they will take it on a "case by case" scenario. i think a bigger carrier would be able to "absorb" the insurance premiums easier than say a "mom & pop" outfit. maybe you can even get a small business loan, buy a used truck and lease yourself out as another option to consider.
