Leaving time on 10hr clock to avoid 34hr reset

    Yeah, when I'm on the road I'm on the road. Taking 34's on the road aren't my goal, I'd rather take a reset at home with a few days off than sitting in some terminal or truck stop. It's a different situation if you run a dedicated account or local. In that case you might burn through as many hours as you can during the week and reset every week, that's how it was when I ran coast to coast dedicated team.

    Exactly. I hate resetting on the road. I try to manage my time where I can stay out as long as I choose without a reset. Then when I do decide to head home, I'm home for 3 days, at a minimum.

    This is why if you are on elogs you must be a vigilant clock watcher. You need to stop the clock as soon as you can.

    Whatever is needed for a load or unload, log it, then change to sleeper. Keep those hours! Some lines can be edited, some not (from my extensive two weeks experience with elogs)

    Lepton makes a useful point about being smart with your hours. I learned to focus on making as many of my work hours into drive hours as possible. I don't like to stop, I minimize my on-duty not driving times, do a brisk pre-trip (really do a pre-trip) and hit that off-duty button at the slightest provocation. Something else. Trip planning may be the most important skill in maximizing income. I left 35 miles north of Cincinnati at 03:00, nobody around, got thru Louisville just as traffic was starting to build, and got around Nashville with minimum delay. Lucky there. That's what Lepton and I are saying, plan your drive time to avoid delay and use those hours for rolling your wheels. Recap or reset, your preference.
