He might be a little nervous too remember. In any case people can adapt to anything. You'll get used to it. I wouldn't talk about anything inflammatory, keep it light and professional.

I was there a year ago myself. I was one of the lucky ones. My trainer was very good and we became good friends. We still talk about 3 to 4 times a week and has always been there if I had a question.
My suggestion would be pay attention to what he has to say and show you, take notes and ask questions. I agree if they are not training you and are just there to add up miles for themself you have the right to ask for another trainer, do not go out there for 8 weeks and not learn how to be a safe and
