I personally think the chain ones are intended more for bikers than truckers.

Sorry, again, but not in my time. While some bikers did use chain drive wallets, in the 70s and 80s, many trucking "transactions" were carried out in cash, like fuel, or that "top secret load" and it was imperative to have a wallet secured to your aXX. Heck, sometimes a trucker would have to carry , maybe $300 in cash!
The ATM card made chain drive wallets obsolete.
