Im still somewhat new so I dont know what all companies will do. I would figure hard to leave state if on probation. It would also matter if it was a misdemeanor or felony. My firend had a felony and took him six months to find job oncw he was out of school. It was from five years ago and his probation was overwith. Be honest about it on all your applications. Dont lie. If one company catches you then rest of them will to as they all do extensive background checks. I would try mega carriers like Werner, Prime, etc. TMC is pretty strict from what I hear. Also with them and most flatbed companies you need a TWIC card to get into certain shippers and recivers. That is pretty much a security clearance to get you into military installations. Will probably be hard for you to get that or a passport. Find a company that dossnt do Canada. Good luck.

In NY Endangering the Welfare Of A Child can be a misdemeanor. Is that how you've been charged?
-
Yeah that's what it will be

I havent been charged or anything yet they are still working on it I'm at a stalemate in my case cause its not my fault.

I would call around to a few companies first before going off to school..
Are you planning on going to a private CDL school or a company sponsored school?
Keep in mind.. you can qualify for a CDL and get admitted to a school and still not qualify for a lot of jobs..
So it is worth it to do some ground work.. call ands talk to the companies you want to get on with..NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
I was planning on going to pdi of rochester

Circumstances can play a major role in what a company will allow and what they won't. A misdemeanor won't likely create a problem with most carriers as long as that is all that is on your record. Being on probation might be a problem due to reporting requirements. At this point, you have not been convicted of anything. From your post, you don't even know whether you will be convicted or even charged. Unless you are charged, it is a non issue.
Johnm Thanks this. -
Well if she did indeed lie I think you should get a lawyer who should be able to poke holes in her story and expose the truth.
You should get this sorted out before attempting to get a CDL IMHO,if you are telling the truth I can't see why you would except anything short of complete exoneration and then move on with your life.Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
