As far as Oregon i know first hand they go by tire weight limits i got poped there years ago.
and thanks Everyone I kinda thought it would be by rating so im good for 14700 or so on my steers.

I know your truck carries a lot of weight on the steering axle, but 14,000 + pounds is too much on the front axle, in my opinion. It may be legal, but ................

Nah, almost all the carhaulers are spec'd with a 14,600# front axle now. 14k# was standard carhauler spec until the new emissions equipment started adding weight up front.

    Cetane+ and 123456 Thank this.

General rule of thumb in car haul with low-pro steers is that 'you run out of rubber before you run out of axel' if you follow me. Most of our Sterlings run 305's on the front. That allows me to back 2 F150's on the over head and a car below and still be under on the steers.

Yea my other truck was a Sterling with quick load trailer i run 5 - 2500s on it or 3 -2500s and 2 3500s
Wont be able to get that on the pete its to high on the top of cab,With a van on the hood and number 2 deck and a full size car on 5th wheel gross was fine but steers range from 14500 to about 15500
So far Ga said I am good will have to see what Sc and Nc say but they havent pulled me yet

    Speedloader Thanks this.

..... And to add to my thoughts about the Sterlings, we run Mercedes power in them. Very light little diesels compared to the Detroit's. And that, in my opinion, is where the comparison stops. Mercedes mbe4000 engines are over engineered buoy anchors in my opinion.

I had a M11 in my 2000 Sterling. It didn't do to bad considering I had 85k on it all the time!

    just got to wondering.,

i'm guessing you guys are running super wides on your steers. correct? or are you all running some type of heavy duty regular slim.

never paid attention to what you all are running on the steers.

right now. the only long haulers are me and a van. we're surround by local tanks and bellies.

The 305's we run on our Sterlings are basically mini float tires. Low and wide. The older Volvos run normal 275's up front.
