Sorry to break it to you but it sounds like someone is pulling your leg.

Felony eavesdropping is only constituted when someone bugs someone elses cell phone, home phone, or bugs their house and aren't a US official. A dashcam doesn't have any capability to send and/or receive audio waves. Think of it as a computer that isn't connected to the internet.

So unless you're spying for China, no one will care about dashcams.

 

I read about a month ago that some 2015 Chevy Corvettes can be ordered from the factory with a factory installed dash cam.

 

i wish i would have had a cam 2 years ago. lost $400 of fuel after a shop repair.
