I just started with a company and wanted to have my wife and kid in the truck with me.they told me no since there is only 2 seats. But I was wondering if I had a lap belt installed in the truck would that negate the problem or would it still be illegal for my son to be in the truck with me and my wife.

If the co said no, I'd go with that. If u get caught with unauthorized ppl in the trk ur probably fired. There are alot of dime droppers out there that love to snitch out other drivers. Maybe after u get some time in with the co they will allow riders. how old is your kid?

My son just turned 8 the only reason I am trying to figure this out is issues with living situation at home.

I mean no disrespect, but they told you no, which means that even with a lap belt your son would be an unauthorized passenger. ANY unauthorized passenger in a truck is illegal. If your wife and son rode with you without the company's knowledge and written permission (and authorization paperwork, which you'd have to carry in the truck and which DOT could ask you for) and the company found out, you're likely to get fired and get a black mark on your employment record. You just started. No really does mean no. Don't take the chance.

Well how does CR England get away with having 3 drivers in a trk. then.. I saw them years back. Trainer and two trainees in one trk...
