No brake failure; either distracted (I'm sure that's it) or medical.

I’m now thinking medical event or impaired.
There was no braking, so distracted or sleeping is out. Either of those he would have nailed the brakes after hitting the first car. -
That, or they didnt have a seat belt on, and upon the first collision, got tossed about unable to get on the brakes. Or had both feet on the dash, or was in the bunk making a samich.
Hopefully we will find out soon enough.

Exactly what came to mind....at least one foot up on the dash.
-
Yeah one foot would probly be enough to pretzel them up so they couldnt get on the brakes. Or accidentally mash the gas instead, just trying to get that other foot somewhere close to the brakes.otherhalftw Thanks this.

If the dot departments wanted to get serious about cracking down on stuff like this, they would have about 10 unmarked tractor trailors as service vehicles per state. Just ride the main interstates all day, everyday. Think of the revenue they would make. Not to mention the lives possibly saved, and accidents prevented. I would pay an extra 5 cent fuel tax to support something like that.

The problem is they have not mandated to put a bright colored warning label on the windshield yet telling people to pay attention and look through it. They keep me safe everyday. Lol!650cat425 Thanks this.

Not a bad idea. They could just patrol around bobtail all day and blend in just fine with the traffic. Might be a fun chase to see if they use a 67 mph truck and try to catch another 67 mph truck. Lol!
No joke though. That is a great idea. Ultra undercover. Everyone acts naturally stupid until they see a popo car.650cat425 Thanks this. -
Yeah even bobtail would be fine. I know Tennessee has one Tractor trailer, but i think just one. We need bout 10. I dont know why they dont do that. Arkansas has dark green, red, black, silver, and plain white rappers that write tickets all day long. State troopers though, no dot that i know of. Most state boys dont mess with semis unless they are speeding above 4 mph of the posted speed limit. Id almost consider a profession change to become a diesel bear, long as i could drive a tractor trailer. Would definitely have job security till retirement, and there would never be a dull moment!Bud A., SmallPackage and mjd4277 Thank this.

Same here. I actually took the law enforcement exam back in 2014. I was too old to be a state trooper but I could’ve became a local or county mountie(age cutoff for state trooper applicants is 35 years, the test was administered TWO MONTHS after my 35th birthday, smh).
Man,if I was DOT certified I’d be shutting drivers/companies down left and right for a bunch of stuff(quite a few outfits in MA running death traps that should be condemned to the scrap heap).
Bud A. and Muddydog79 Thank this.
