just out of curiosity, what is the legal max amount of time a driver can drive in one day altogether? Is there a max amount of days in a row a person can drive?
Length of time OTR?

interstate OTR-11 hours driving,10 hours sleeper=21 hours, leaves 3 more hours driving.of course you would have to subtract your fuel and pre-trip from that.no there is no maximum amount of days as long as your total on duty time is held to 8.75 hours per day that way you never exceed 70 hours per 8 days.

ok, im really confused, 11 hours OTR and 10 hours break, what do I do for the 3 extra hours? if I am running during my 11hrs and I have a stop that takes me 2-3hr to wait, can I subtract that from the 11hrs?

lets say you drive 8.5 hours after you did your pretrip and fuel at the truckstop at 8:00am-you left the truckstop @ 8:15,drove untill 4:45,arriving at your customer you spend 2.25 hours unloading and hand stacking freight.this means you have now been on-duty 11 hours.at this point you could only drive 3 more hours before hitting your 14 hour limit.once you hit either 11 hours straight driving or 14 hours of consecutive on duty time (driving/unloading) you must take your 10 hours off.it sounds confusing but it really isn't

well they yanked my other reply-if you've been driving 11 hours and then are on duty at a warehouse 3 hours, you have hit your 14 hour total on duty time-go to sleeper.now if you were driving 8 hours then had 3 hours on duty at the warehouse, you would still have 3 more hours driving available
-
what i meant about subtracting your fuel and pre-trip was that it is on-duty time and it takes away from your hours available to drive
-
ok, that cleared it up

Maximum legal hours per day driving (provided it's all you do that day) =
13.75 without a fuel stop
13.5 with a fuel stop
If you fudge and include a pretrip with the fuel stop...now we're getting technical
All this precludes company policy, which may include a "post trip inspection" to be logged at 15 minutes. Others require a simple flag
Note: It's been a very rare day when I've logged more than 12 hours in the seat. I always seem to get sidetracked at dinner time and take an hour off.
