Paccar wanted my old liners out of my MX13 as a core as well. So not just cat. That said its still a buyer beware. Sometimes oems are better sometimes aftermarkets are. Ive used oem, aftermarket and used. Even made a few of my own parts before. Just depends.

Just get me an ol flat top, 290-300 wheelbase, low air suspension, air ride front DS 40’s out back with 3:55’s. A 3406C mechanical that’s got the right #### in it. Along with 349a Jake’s and a brake saver. Behind it let’s put a Spicer PSO1406A and a 1750-4D auxiliary for gear selection and torque multiplication. Set of twin 150’s with fuel heaters to feed it so you can cover 1500 miles without having to worry about running out before you feed it. 11R24.5’s wrapped around small hole Alcoa wheels. Long drop blind mounted stainless half fenders to keep the rocks off the bunk, 20 inch Texas square bumper on the front 13 inch stainless visor. Put covers on the horns with a 1-5-1 roof light pattern all glass lenses. Straights at 13.6” to keep the smoke off wagon. Bus glass in the windshields, heated power mirrors with a quality antennas mounted to each for the 955 Stryker that’s in the cab. A pair of Atlas II DXL seats with the lower base left out so you can ride without being stove up. Most important thing is a handicap ramp for Doc, needs to be 12 inches wide and still store under the bunk behind sleeper door on left.
Thats where I’d start anyway. I’m sure it be hard to find. I’m sure it won’t be cheap either. -
I'd take a late 80's R model Mack with a v-8, 13 speed and 4.11 rears and a coffin sleeper. Just something about those trucks I love.
In reality though, I'd take a W900. 2007 or newer, or whenever they went to the style dash they're currently using. Aerocab flattop sleeper. I'd want a 12v-92 Detroit under the hood, 18 speed. Of course it'd have to be straight pipes.broke down plumber Thanks this. -

Porn man, you just described truck porn…. -
I get if the rod is all they want why require it all. The won’t accept them as a core of the rod or cap shows any rust or obvious damage. If the cylinder is scored they won’t except them either. That is because a scored cylinder is from heat. If that heat is from a malfunction with a piston cooling nozzle it’s possible the small end of rod is compromised too. Rather than risk it they just don’t accept them.
Now I’m not saying CAT parts are as good as they use be. I think a quality aftermarket kit is just as good. I’ve never been a fan of taking #### apart to put it back together as that’s risk. But it’s more risk hoping it’s right. I’m just sharing my experience is allBoostedTeg, Oxbow, TripleSix and 2 others Thank this. -
The only things I’d add is an 18 speed behind my series 60. The 13 is fine, but I want the 18 next. Maybe some white pinstripe here and there, a new fridge and interior paint and a custom red fancy floor.
Other than that, new CB, antenna, new chrome plastic vents, new radio, new cab and sleeper roof lights, new kingpins add to the existing rebuild with about 1700 miles on it. Plus all that awesome new rubber all around.
I’m just happy with my W9. Oh….and hood support brackets. Anyone have a pair?broke down plumber Thanks this. -

If you put a mechanical big cam in an aero truck, it would probably get 8 or 9 miles to the gallon.
I got six in a truck that's built like a brick pulling a van with no air deflector...
Honestly I would just rather they got rid of all the emission crap and the electronic crap.
That's why I like the big cam.
Give me a wrench and a screwdriver and I'll rebuild the engine.
If it doesn't start, I'll do like Fred Flintstone, and I'll stick my feet through the floor and yabba daa doo until the truck rolls down the street.
Then I let the clutch out and that thing will run for months without any battery electricity whatsoever if I want it to.
It's bad enough that they put all this crap on the trucks, but they want you to use that year engine or newer.
It takes all the fun out of taking an older engine and putting it into something newer, and blending the two together, like peanut butter and jelly together, the way they should be.
It would be cool to have a truck that's like a couple years old that you put a big cam or a 3406 in.
Sometimes the government stinks.
