I dont think you could go wrong with any of the aftermarket manifolds really, PDI, bully dog, or full tilt. Rumor was not too long ago they may have all been same manifold or pretty close anyway. That polished and coated one sounds like nice piece, not sure that makes much difference in performance, but you got it for a good price. I think PDI just went up again recently in price.

Doug knows his stuff, esp when it comes to Cat. He can really make the old mechanical Cats put down some hps too.

Hey guys, just an update, i fueled up today, i took 89 gal, and went 565 miles. Thats 6.34 m.p.g. Again this is a 7cz c-16 in a 2001 pete with 3.90 and 24.5 tall rubber. I have never got that kind of fuel milage since the truck was new.i just put a ceramic coated bully dog ex. manifold and a bw non waste gate turbo , turbine #171698, cartridge #175964, and compressor #175963. I was running lowbed the whole time. A trip down to wallingford ct and back both ways loaded at about 88,000 lbs. a local run at about 90,000 lbs. also a loaded trip to plymouth ma. at 88,000 lbs and back to leicester empty. Then down to plymouth and back empty. Had to move two pieces from one side of town to the other while i was there with lowbed. Sorry to ramble on, just trying to show what i did with truck during those 565 miles. This truck runs up the highway at 90,000 lbs effortlesly. I get 39 lbs. of boost and i cannot get my exhaust temp. over 800-850. I tried to keep my speeds under 70. Most of the time i was at 65 m.p.h. The hardest thing to is keep your foot out of the fuel peddle. It will hold 65 m.p.h. on almost every road around here. I would not want any more power than what i have now.if youve ever driven a truck with this much torque, its kind of tricky to regulate your fuel pedal on the low side of the tranny. Its got so much torque it feels like i could brake something easily. I wonder how these guys running stage 2 turbos and big injectors making big power and torque, keep clutches and trannys in there trucks. I know about the lipe clutch, but i wonder how many miles they can get out of their trannys?

There is no replacement for displacement!! remember fuel mileage is primarily dependent on the driver. bad habits produce bad fuel mileage.

Thanks for the detailed description on what parts you used and the results you have seen. I have been reading these forums for quite a while trying to figure out what combination I want to use. This has been very helpful in deciding to use this setup. Quick question 4states in Joplin is selling a Borg Warner turbo S478, is this the same turbo that you have on yours?
