I'll try to keep this brief. I've been doin this driving for a short time and I've seen a few things that are really disturbing. We all are here to make make a living. Key point is living, not only do we volunteer for our jobs. We also take the good and bad, mostly bad. My biggest issue is the disrespect we get. Not only from the company we drive for, but the customers we provide serivice for. For the wages we make, comparable to the hours we put in, we might as be working fast-food. We are the backbone of this country. We put in the crazy hours, we constantly get beaten down by everyone. Being DOT, customer or employer. I'm here just to say that every company out there has a way to cut corners and usually it comes at a price. Which in turn comes back to the hard working driver. I suggest we drivers unite, we need a leader. We need a seperate support system to protect us. That comes at a price too. We should do like the tea party and buck the system a little. We outnumber them. We have more strength in numbers. We should demand more respect. Also please respect your fellow driver, he or she is just as frustrated as you. Also dont work for heartland, dispatch has issues with communicating with drivers. In my expierience it seems like the right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing. I'm told not to complain, it just the way it is, I was given another choice... To quit. So I'll be doing that, soon as I find another place that will burn me just a little bit less than the last one.

    Thanks
    Fellow co-worker

    Thank you

What you are proposing is forming a drivers Union.

Why is it people feel they need support to stand up for themselves?

Hrtlnd, you can forget anyone coming to any battle cry. Turns out drivers are the biggest wimps out there.

    Yeah, you all heard me.

How many times have I heard or read comments like that?

    Thousands.

How many times have I seen anything happen.

    ZERO

Fact is no one is willing to rock the boat. No one wants to loose what little they have. Most big company drivers are too stupid to notice or care, and almost all drivers are scared of loosing their livelihood.

There will never be another "Drivers Union". There will never be another big strike. The best that can happen is to find another job. Trucking has been tainted since deregulation, and the only way to fix it is to re-regulate it. That is something nobody wants, so in the words of Pvt. Hudson (not Hicks):
