    Looking for some help/advice:

I recently completed the required written testing for my class b CDL w/ air brakes in the state of NJ. When I attempted to have my permit stamped as ok, I was told by the NJ DMV that there was some type of hold on my license, and that I needed a letter of consent from Rhode Island DMV (received a few tickets/summons for speeding, reckless, etc., over a decade ago.) I went to court at the time and paid all necessary fees/fines. However, I've been trying to get in touch with the Rhode Island DMV for two weeks to see what they need from me to get the above mentioned letter, but cannot get anyone to answer the phone, return a call, nor reply to a fax. Any suggestions as to what a) I need to provide them with, b) any means of getting in touch with them to provide same? Need the CDL permit for volunteer FD, as well as work, ASAP. If anyone ran into similar trouble and found a successful route, please let me know. Thanks.

I had the same thing happen to me. It stinks, but you have to just let the phone ring till someone answers. I had to let the thing ring for 40 minutes, but I did get through

You need to keep checking with the DMV and get the mess cleared up. I went to change my CDL from MD to NV some years ago and had a parking ticket from Wash. DC I never knew I had. NV would not give my CDL to me until it was cleared. Cost a couple of hundreds bucks and we all knew I parked legally. The sign no parking except on Sundays and it was a Sunday. We remembered because it was so hard to park there. But what can you do but pay it and go to work.
