One of our drivers received a warning from a KY State Police officer during a Level II at the scales.

"Operating a device that is not registered with FMCSA: Inoperative ELD/AOBRD"

This is not the case however; we are in full compliance and the devices we use are registered with FMCSA, listed on the official website and match the photo on the website exactly.

Has anyone else ran into or heard of a situation like this? I'm a bit irritated seeing this examination report on my desk.

    Oxbow and Hammer166 Thank this.

I do not think there was a requirement to register AOBRDs. They should be grandfathered until 2019.

    ELD - Registered ELDs

This warning, which will still be listed on CSA without points, seems to be petty piling-on by KY State Police.

If you look at them a little closer there seems to be a common hardware/screen with a lot of different software companies.

If it isn't correct then fight it,don't let the officials or FMCSA get the upper hand.

Wow I didn't know so many either! This story sucks and now it is all on you to fight it -vs- them understanding it?

I would send that info along with a copy to the KY DOT ... It could be they have outdated material.

Yes that is correct, the quoted text in my original post is exactly how it is worded in the examination report and had me scratchin' my head as well.

Here's my problem with the whole works... they MAY NOT have updated info, but who pays the price for their ignorance, we do.
