Hello everyone. I would like to know what should I obtain in order to drive 53' /80,000 lbs truck (long interstate haul) and load it by myself.
I meant things like DOT number, licence plate and others , if any ?
I will purchase a truck in a month or so, so I want to be ready with all papers.
And how long does it takes to set up everything and be "on my own" ?
Any advice on "how to do it ASAP" is highly appreciated.
Thx.
Licenses needed to be "on my own" ?

What do you mean "on my own"?
-
To be an Owner operator and load myself without any other company's services of finding a loads, providing trailers for % from my load, etc.
I've been leasing for a while and they charged me for providing a load + truck+trailer. Now I want to buy truck, rent/buy trailer, establish my motor carrier and load myself. -
For a start you will need to get your own motor carrier operating authority, pay your heavy highway use tax on your truck, apply for plates paying for your estimated IFTA (fule) taxes for the states you want to operating in, and get at least cargo and liability insurance (required before your operating authority will become active).
Start by reading the threads at http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...-operator/13608-so-you-want-own-your-own.html and http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...becoming-owner-operator-steps-forms-info.html that are found in the sticky at the top of this forum. -
