Company I'm leased to hit me with some bs today. They want to put a lien on my truck in exchange for tags. I told them hell no my truck is paid for and I'm not about to go that route. I ran with them all last year and paid off several decent sized repair bills $500 a week out of my settlements. They've been trying to get their hands on my title for a while now but I keep telling them no. Just keep running me. I'm thinking of bobtailing home in the morning on a paper plate. Any ideas?

Sounds shady to me. Find a new company.

Tags are not worth a title.

Are they about to go bankrupt, and are looking to increase their asset base. Come to think of it, probably they want to borrow against it themselves.

The Co. i'm leased to asks new hire for $500 up front to get tags. After that they take like $50/ pay until they are paid for. I have been around a while and have never heard of what you are talking about.

Why in the hell is any one having the companies provide the tags for their truck?

I always had my own tags and did so to avoid any crap if I have to leave the company. Yes it can be a little hassle but who cares the time I spend if I had to go somewhere else was more than worth the trip to get the plates.

I heard about a very similar situation on Rutherford's show about a year ago....when the show was still about trucking. The truck owner lost his truck because of a lien placed on his paid off truck. His was a lease purchase deal, but the company couldn't provide the title because of the lien. The company went belly up, and the guy had to cut his losses

Returned their trailer and headed home. It was a decent company at first but it started getting sketchy in the last 60 days. Not sure what the problem is but I'm not sticking around to find out.
